Hi my name is Paul Ashmore I’m 30 and live in East London, currently working as a mixing and mastering engineer at Audio Animals Studio. I’ve worked in the music industry since leaving school at 16. I started out working with smaller labels and studios in order to get my foot in the door and meet new producers and engineers. Over the last 14 years of working in the music industry I’ve had the pleasure of working with and working for some amazing artists and companies. I have had the pleasure of working on music for major Hollywood films such as The Amazing Spider-Man 2, X-Men, Mr Holmes, Daredevil and Winters Tale as well as working on music for game trailers such as Lego Batman and Shadow Of Mordor.
Since starting Audio Animals back in October 2012 we have taken in over 25,000 orders for both big and small artists. I am a firm believer that everyone should be treated the same. I don’t care if you are a 10 times grammy award winning producer you will be treated with exactly the same morals, understanding and courtesy I would treat an artist who is releasing his first record. We all got into this industry for the same reason to enjoy ourselves and do what we love. I’ll never lose sight of that.
I love my work and I love what I do. Every day I work in this industry is a blessing. When I was 16 first getting into engineering music, never did I expect to be in the position I am in now. Owning a successful studio and company with a kit list of analogue equipment as long as my arm. The audio equipment I have accumulated over the years was always gear I dreamed of owning but due to the sheer price never thought I would own.
I see myself in 10 years owning a very successful studio with training programs teaching young engineers the art of mixing and mastering. Building an empire within the music industry to be able to give every talented engineer and producer a position within Audio Animals. This is a dream of course but then 10 years ago my dream was to be exactly where I am now. So anything is possible and well within my grasp.
My inspirations are my mother and father who helped mould me into the man I am today. Without them believing in my dream to set up my own company none of this would have been possible. I aspire to be as good a role model as they were to me for my future family and everyone I have the pleasure of working with.
I enjoy all things music related. I’m fortunate enough to have met a lot of established artists who I have made close friends with. I like to have a close bond with the people I work with. I feel it’s important to be seen as a friend instead of just that guy who mixes my track. Which is why you’ll find I’m interactive with every online and in life in general. I spend a lot of time online and the majority of my closest friends have been made through facebook and a mutual interest in music.
I pride myself on high quality audio equipment and am often refereed to as a gearslut. Analogue outboard gear is where my heart lies. I get as excited as a kid on christmas day waiting for new gear to arrive. The pride of my kit list is my Solid State Logic console. Never did I think I’d own one. At £30,000 the price of a deposit of a house you can kind of see why. I saved and saved and then saved some more in order to buy one. While my friends would buy a new car I’d buy a new compressor. I’d much rather a shadow hills compressor over a car.
Well that’s enough about me…… I look forward to working with you and hope you have enjoyed reading a little insight into my life.
