Q1. Please tell us about yourself, what you do within the music industry?
I am a Drum and Bass Artist and Bedroom Dj from Birmingham, UK currently living in Palma Mallorca where I work in my Main Job as a Head Chef for a French Restaurant.
Q2. How did you first get introduced to music?
I got introduced into music by my Dad without a doubt. I swear he had a radio on in every room in the house. He has a pretty extensive vinyl collection, none of which are Drum and Bass but hopefully I will change that 🙂 He is a huge fan of Irish music or “Diddly Music” as he calls it and has a bodrãn over the Kitchen door.
Q3. What are your inspirations?
I think my inspirations will be answered in Q4.
Q4. Who are your musical idols?
This is a tough one, and could be long winded but I will keep it short. Richard Ashcroft made me pick up the Guitar and start writing acoustic songs. Seether/Nirvana/Pearl Jam/Staind will be my go to rock bands. 90’s Indie was a huge hit for me, from Oasis to Shed 7. Bad Company, Goldie AND Rob Playford, Ed Rush and Optical to name a few of the DNB Producers. A MASSIVE shout to DJ Devize from 3D Mode who showed me a world of deep and dark drum and bass that made me passionate about this scene! He is a huge reason why I love DNB
Q5. What music equipment do you currently use?
I am using a Macbook with Logic X but am going to buy a imac 27inch tomorrow!!! KRK Rockit 5’s, M Audio Oxygen25 Keyboard, M Audio M track Interface, Beyerdynamic DT990’s (Pauls Advice) and Audio Technica ATM50’s. I also have a TBone Microphone and a Academy Acoustic guitar, which although is not a big name, plays amazing!!
Q6. What is your biggest musical achievement to date?
I don’t have any achievements that are big. My goal was to release 1 track, 1 song and I would be happy, I would die happy!! Fluid State Recordings signed my track for their Various Artists EP and that made my dreams come true, one tune to make my mark in this world as a producer, I could not be happier than the day I signed that contract!
Q7. How long have you been working in the music industry?
It’s been a year. I bought Logic X, my Midi and my Headphones for my 30th. I am now 31 🙂 It’s been a frustrating year to say the least.
Q8. What are your musical plans for the future?
I don’t have any, I work my ass of in the Kitchen as a Head Chef, I bust my balls trying to keep my marriage vibrant and alive, I walk my dog everyday and speak to my family as often as I can and only then do I get on the computer once a week and try and be creative. I will sit all day on a Sunday, if it works, it works. I want to take this journey slowly. I am in it for the passion for music, nothing else!
Q9. Where do you see yourself in 10 years time?
10 years?? There is no way I could tell you where I would be next year, next question.
