I first came across Toneden / Tone Den whilst creating client release articles and instantly noticed how good it was as a way of linking all download store links in one place. Much like what we do for our clients with the client releases articles. The general gist of Toneden is simple, within a single page on their website a page can be made that lists links to download stores such as Beatport, Itunes and Google Play etc.
So why is this a good idea?
Put yourself in the customers shoes. You arrive at a soundcloud player, you love the track and want to download it but the only link displayed in the player is an iTunes link. You don't use iTunes and you need to find an alternative download link. Most people will do a search for the track on Google and hopefully find a store that is listing the track for download. So what if you could remove this issue. What Toneden will do is display all the download links in one place. This way the single link on the Soundcloud player can be the Toneden link. By doing so the potential customer will click the buy link on the Soundcloud player and see all the available download stores they can choose from.
Toneden is used by over 750,000 different artists around the world and to me seems a very good way of engaging your audience if you don't already have a dedicated website doing this sort of thing already. You can visit their website here and create a free account. There are lots of other features involved in your account but from the face of it listing all download store links in one place is the feature that brings this website to my notice.
