WHAT IS DOLBY ATMOS
Hearing your music in Dolby Atmos for the first time is a truly eye opening experience. Mixing in Dolby Atmos is in some ways similar to mixing in stereo. The main difference being that instead of mixing in a stereo field left and right. In Dolby Atmos we can mix in a 3D immersive space and position sound up, down, left, right, forward, backwards, near and far. Dolby Atmos achieves a mix that is more spacious, detailed and overall more pleasing to the ear. The true benefits of Dolby Atmos are achieved when folding a Dolby Atmos mix down into a binaural stereo mix. The binaural mix can then be mastered in stereo in exactly the same way as a standard stereo mix is. The benefits of mastering a binaural stereo mix is that the mix retains the immersive aspects of the Dolby Atmos mix but can be played using standard stereo speakers or headphones.
